# AI Presentations

Create AI presentations in MaiGPT conversations: get started quickly with a template and page count, use AI in the presentation panel to edit a single page or element, restore versions, and export to

After you ask AI to create a presentation in a MaiGPT conversation, the presentation panel opens on the right. You can preview each slide, edit content with AI, restore a previous version, play the presentation, export to PDF or PPTX, or generate a share link. If the panel is collapsed, click the Open Presentation card in the conversation to reopen it.

## Create a Presentation

### Start from the "Presentation" Quick Entry

Choose a template, data sources, and page count before you send, so the AI does not need to ask about the presentation style one question at a time.

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### 1. Open the presentation template panel

Start a new MaiGPT conversation, click Presentation in the Office Apps row below the input box, and expand the Presentation Templates panel. This row appears only in a new conversation where no message has been sent yet.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### 2. Choose a template

Find a template using Search presentation templates and favorites..., the source tabs (All, Favorites, Organization, Built-in), or a category, then click the card to select it. To see what each page looks like first, click Preview on the card, and in the preview window you can click Use This Template.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### 3. Add data sources and set the page count

If needed, choose the knowledge bases, skills, or databases to reference at the bottom of the panel (optional, multiple selection allowed), then set the number of pages (1–50 pages, default 10).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### 4. Apply and send

Click Apply (you must select a template first). The template appears as a preview card above the input box, the selected data sources appear as tags in the input box, and the input box is filled with "Help me start generating a new presentation with this template, N pages in total". If you have already typed your request, only "N pages in total" is appended. Add the topic, audience, and key points, then send. These settings apply only to this one submission.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### Ask Directly in the Conversation

You can also type something like "Help me make a 10-page product launch presentation". If you do not specify a format, MaiGPT usually first asks whether you want an AI presentation that can be previewed live and shared, or a PPTX file. After you choose an AI presentation, it asks you to confirm a template or style, and starts creating only after you confirm.

### Generation Process and Automatic Images

Once creation starts, the presentation panel on the right expands automatically. The top shows progress in order, such as "Analyzing your request...", "Planning presentation outline (N pages)...", and "Drawing page X / N...". Completed pages appear one by one, and finally "Presentation generated! N pages in total" is shown.

When a cover, key visual, or scene illustration is needed, AI automatically generates images and places them in the slides. Generated images count toward AI image generation usage, and failed generations are not charged. If your quota is insufficient or generation fails, AI completes the presentation with layout elements such as color blocks and icons, and explains the reason in its reply.

| -------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Top-left tabs | Presentation shows slides page by page; Files lists the HTML and CSS files that make up the presentation |

### Collapse and Reopen the Panel

Click Close (×) at the top right of the panel, and the conversation area returns to full width. The closed state is remembered per conversation in your current browser: after you send a new message, refresh, or switch to another conversation and come back, the panel stays collapsed. It returns to the default if you switch devices, switch browsers, or clear browser data. To reopen it, click Open Presentation below the message that generated the presentation. When a new presentation is generated in the same conversation, the panel expands automatically.

## Edit a Presentation with AI

All of the following operations are done in a page's Preview mode, and only one edit can be in progress at a time.

### Rewrite a Whole Page

1. On the page you want to change, click Edit Whole Page and enter an instruction under "How would you like to change this page?", for example "Change to a three-column comparison with a more concise tone". You can also click Rewrite, Condense, Expand, Formal Tone, or Translate under Favorites to fill in a preset instruction and then modify it.
2. Click Send →. When AI finishes, the result is shown as a "Before/After" comparison; drag the center line to compare the differences.
3. If you are satisfied, click Keep Changes; click Revert to return to the version before the edit.

### Edit One or More Elements

1. Move the mouse over a text block or image on the slide. An outline and Edit Element appear on the block. Click once to select it, and keep clicking other blocks to add them to the selection (hold `Ctrl` or `Cmd` and click to toggle a single block).
2. After selecting, the floating bar shows "N selected", and you can click Select All, Clear, or Edit Selected.
3. Enter an instruction and click Send →. When multiple elements are selected, the same instruction is applied to all of them.
4. After checking the comparison, click Keep Changes to save as a new version; click Revert to discard this edit.

### Fact-Check

Click Fact-Check Content on a page, and the input box is filled with a fact-check instruction and a text summary of that page. After you confirm the content and send it, MaiGPT verifies the data, facts, and claims in it within the conversation.

{% hint style="warning" %}
AI edits count toward usage. If you see "Insufficient Credits balance, please purchase more", contact your organization administrator. If you see "The presentation has been updated, please refresh and try again", the presentation received a new version while you were editing; refresh and try again.
{% endhint %}

***

## Version History and Restore

Rewriting a whole page, keeping element edits, and restoring a version each create a new version.

1. Click View & Export → Version History. The list shows each Version N, marked as AI Edit or Manual Edit.
2. Click Restore on the version you want to go back to, and confirm "Are you sure you want to restore to version N? The current content will be replaced by this version."

Restoring creates a new version from that version's content. The original versions remain in the list, so you can restore back to them later.

## Play, Export, and Share

| Action                                             | Description                                                                                                                                                                  |
| -------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Presentation Mode | Play in full screen. Use `→`, `↓`, or the space bar to go to the next page, `←` or `↑` to go back, and `Esc` to exit |
| Export PDF | Shows "Generating PDF, please wait...", and opens the download in a new tab when finished |
| Export PPTX | Generates the PPTX in the browser and downloads it. If some images cannot be retrieved, you see "PPTX export complete, but N images could not be retrieved and were skipped" |
| Share Link | Generates a share link and copies it automatically (shows "Share link copied") |

### Share Link

Recipients who open the share link **do not need to sign in**. They see the total page count and each page's content, and can click Play Presentation to view it in full screen. The share page shows the latest content of the presentation: later AI edits or restores appear when they open the same link.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Anyone with the link can open it, and links currently have no expiration date. Share only content that can be made public. If the link is no longer valid, the recipient sees "Presentation not found or link has expired".
{% endhint %}

## Manage Presentation Templates

| Action                          | Description                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            |
| ------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Add to favorites | Click the star at the top right of a template card (hover to show Add to Favorites); you can then find it under the Favorites tab. Click again to remove it. The favorites list is personal |
| Import a template | Click Import Presentation Template in the panel. Imported templates go under the Organization tab and are shared across the whole organization |
| Delete an organization template | The template's uploader or the organization owner can click Delete Organization Template on the card; after confirmation it is deleted and cannot be recovered. Built-in templates cannot be deleted |

### Import a Template

1. In the Presentation Templates panel, click Import Presentation Template.
2. Choose a source:
   * Upload File: drag or select a .pptx, .pdf, or .html template file, up to 20 MB.
   * Import from Link: paste a Google Slides, Drive, OneDrive, or file link. The link must be publicly accessible from the internet.
3. Fill in the Template Name (filled in automatically with the file name when uploading a file), and click Import.

Importing requires file conversion and thumbnail generation, and may take a few minutes. When finished, "Template imported successfully" is shown and the panel switches to the Organization tab. On failure, "Template import failed, please check the file or link and try again" is shown.

## FAQ

### Why can't I see the "Presentation" quick entry?

The Office Apps row appears only in a new MaiGPT conversation where no message has been sent yet. If the conversation has already started, open a new conversation, or simply ask MaiGPT in the conversation to create a presentation.

### Why can't I see AI editing buttons such as "Edit Whole Page"?

Check that the page is in Preview mode, that no other edit is currently in progress, and that your role has the Agent Marketplace permission. If the buttons are visible but submitting fails, you may not be the creator of this presentation; ask the creator or the organization owner to make the edit.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.maiagent.ai/maiagent-user-guide/en/work/maigpt/slides.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
