# Usage and Quotas

MaiGPT usage and quotas: which actions consume Credits, how members check their own quota and remaining usage (My Quota), and tips for saving usage.

MaiGPT uses pay-as-you-go billing — you pay for what you use. Below is an overview of usage basics.

## What Is Usage <a href="#what-is-usage" id="what-is-usage"></a>

Every time you chat with AI, the system calculates usage based on the length and complexity of your messages. Usage is usually managed and paid for centrally by your company, so you don't need to pay yourself.

## How to Check Usage <a href="#how-to-check-usage" id="how-to-check-usage"></a>

How you can view usage depends on your company's settings. If your interface shows usage, you can check it directly. Otherwise, contact your administrator to find out about usage.

If your company uses Credits billing, you can check your quota and remaining balance by going to the avatar in the top right → <mark style="color:blue;">Account</mark> → <mark style="color:blue;">Credit Quota</mark>. ## Tips to Save Usage <a href="#tips-to-save-usage" id="tips-to-save-usage"></a>

* **The more precise your question, the less usage** — Specific questions get shorter replies than vague ones, which uses less
* **Make good use of a single conversation** — Continuing a conversation is cheaper than starting a new one, since you don't need to provide the background again
* **Choose the right feature** — Simple questions don't need Deep Research; keep [thinking effort](/maiagent-user-guide/en/work/maigpt/chat.md#deep-thinking) at <mark style="color:blue;">Default</mark> or lower it
