# Choose the Right Model

Choosing between MaiGPT models: a quick comparison of the speed, capabilities, and best-fit scenarios of common model families such as GPT, Claude, and Gemini.

MaiGPT offers a variety of AI models. Here is a quick look at how they differ.

## Quick Comparison <a href="#quick-comparison" id="quick-comparison"></a>

| Model        | Strengths                                                        | Speed  | Best For                                                |
| ------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------- | ------ | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Claude** | Chinese comprehension, long-form writing, analysis and reasoning | Medium | Writing reports, analyzing documents, complex reasoning |
| **GPT**      | Well-balanced general capability, coding                         | Medium | Coding, translation, general Q\&A                       |
| **Gemini**   | Fast responses, multimodal                                       | Fast   | Quick Q\&A, image understanding                         |
| **DeepSeek** | Strong reasoning                                                 | Medium | Math, logical reasoning                                 |
| **Gemma** | Open-source from Google, lightweight and efficient | Fast | Lightweight deployment, edge computing |
| **Grok** | Humorous style, creative ideation | Medium | Creative writing, brainstorming |

The table lists only common model families. For the full list of model families available on MaiAgent, see [Technical Guide - Large Language Models (LLM)](https://docs.maiagent.ai/tech/quickstart/llm). The models your organization can actually choose from are managed by the organization owner in [Model Access Permissions](/maiagent-user-guide/en/org/model-access.md).

{% hint style="info" %}
When you need up-to-date information, any model must be paired with the web search feature. Models do not automatically obtain real-time information on their own. See [How to Choose a Model](/maiagent-user-guide/en/work/maigpt/chat.md#model-selection-guide).

## Not Sure Which to Choose? <a href="#model-selection-decision-guide" id="model-selection-decision-guide"></a>

Follow this decision flow:

1. **General work (writing documents, looking up information, translation)** → Use the default model
2. **Not satisfied with the quality** → Try Claude or GPT
3. **Need the fastest speed** → Use Gemini
4. **Complex reasoning or calculation** → Use Claude or DeepSeek

{% hint style="info" %}
**There is no "best" model**

Every model has areas it excels at and areas it does not. The most practical approach is to try the same question with different models and find the one you like best.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.maiagent.ai/maiagent-user-guide/en/work/maigpt/faq/model-comparison.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
