What Are Official Built-in Agents?

Official built-in Agents are AI assistants created by MaiAgent and listed in the Agent Marketplace. Once enabled by an organization, they are ready to use with no setup required.

Official built-in Agents are AI assistants designed, tested, and published by MaiAgent. Their role instructions, models, and tools are already configured. Once an organization administrator enables one, members can start chatting with it right away—without building an Agent, fine-tuning role instructions, or preparing a knowledge base first.

In the Agent Marketplace, official built-in Agents and Agents created by your organization appear on separate tabs: Official Built-in and Organization-built.

In short: use an official built-in Agent for speed; build your own for customization. Both can coexist. Many organizations use official built-in Agents for general tasks and build their own Agents for company-specific workflows.

What You Can and Cannot Change After Enabling

When you enable an official built-in Agent, the system creates a locked assistant in your organization based on the official blueprint.

You can:

  • Import your organization's documents into the Agent's dedicated knowledge base

  • Specify which roles/groups can use it

  • Complete any connector authorization it requires

You cannot:

  • Modify the role instructions (System Prompt)

  • Add or remove tools or skills

  • Change the language model

It is normal not to see an edit button for an official built-in Agent in the AI Assistants list. Its settings are centrally maintained by MaiAgent to ensure consistent quality across organizations and allow automatic updates when a new official version is released.

If you need customized role instructions or a custom combination of tools, use Agent Builder to create your own Agent.

Versions Update Automatically

Each official built-in Agent card displays a Version. When MaiAgent releases a new version—with improved prompts, behavior fixes, or expanded capabilities—organizations that have enabled the Agent are automatically updated to the latest version. You neither need nor have the option to upgrade manually or pin a version.

If an Agent's response style or output format seems different from before, MaiAgent has usually released a new version. Content you imported into its knowledge base is not affected.

Concurrent Enablement Limits Depend on Your Plan

Official built-in Agents have a concurrent enablement limit and a cooldown period after enablement. Allowances vary by plan. See Trial and Subscription Plans · Feature Differences.

For details about enabling Agents, cooldown calculation, and what to do when you reach the limit, see Enable and Manage.
